Note me
...sucks. And I'll tell you why.
Let me start from the beginning. Actually, that beginning starts about one year ago, which marks the start of a long and drawn-out sequence of incredibly unfortunate events ranging from the absurdly unlucky to the life-altering, frustrating to health-compromising, and stressful to scary. Therefore, I shall tell my (very long) story in pieces. As I feel the motivation to continue recounting these infelicitous events, I will post another entry advancing the story.
I live with my boyfriend, Amado. We've been together 5 years and been living together about 2 years. The two of us and our cat Poe lived in a tiny studio apartment for a while before finally upgrading to a relatively nice one-bedroom across the street from a liquor store. We are poor and work at jobs we hate. We are both in debt and cannot afford to quit the jobs we hate. We both want to do more with our lives, but don't have the means to do so, i.e., if we could get better jobs with higher pay, we could go to school or training to get better jobs, but we don't have the money or time to get the training we need for the jobs we want that would make us the money that could pay for the training we need...catch my drift? So, we are stuck in a vicious cycle of doom from which we cannot seem to escape. But we have remained more or less happy because we are together and we love each other. This happiness has been harder to keep around in the past year though.
Amado has no family to speak of. His father and mother divorced when he was younger, his father being a drinker who later died by it. He left home at the age of 14 or 15, moving out of their state, and has only kept in a bare minimum of contact with his mother and siblings (a visit every 5 years or so?), which I believe they hold some resentment for. In any case, they are not people to which he can turn for help in some such predicaments as ours. He also has few friends, and they are not really true, long-lasting friends. They are people he's worked with and hung out with occasionally outside work. It's not because he's hard to like, but that Amado himself finds it hard to like other people (which I can relate to very well). All of these points are to be noted in relation to the big kick-off event that started us on our path of destruction, which I will embark upon in my next entry.
