Gatsby

This is one of a very few pictures I took of one of the dogs I cared for recently. I do a fair amount of house-sitting around town, and I've begun to document the dogs at these houses. This is Gatsby, the young-but-big chocolate lab. I only watched over this strange young pup for a day, 10-10. It was like babysitting more so than house-sitting. Some people and their dogs...hehe. It was also my first time meeting him and his family. Other dogs I've watched repeatedly for up to 2 weeks. Yet somehow the best picture I've managed to get so far is of this one-time passing.

When I met him, I asked his family if he was named after the character from the book The Great Gatsby, and sure enough they did in fact name him with that in mind. It only seemed natural to pull a quote from the book to place here. I looked through all the pages I'd tabbed and lines I'd highlighted...so many really great lines...but none of them could -quite- outweigh probably the most famous of them all, the last one.

Doesn't it look like this Gatsby could be looking across the lake at the green light, just like his namesake?
